Introducing students to jobs of the future
Read about how we work with schools to increase awareness
In a series of sessions at St Matthew Academy giving an insight into the wealth of opportunities available in the construction industry, the first was a virtual reality (VR) session for twelve students, aged 15-16.
The aim of this session was to demonstrate how VR can be used in training as well as planning and design. Each student had the chance to ‘build’ a virtual town or landscape – using the technology to visualise how the elements and layout work together.
Further discussion took place about the advantages of VR in construction, and the role technology is playing in shaping the jobs the students themselves may pursue in the future.
Construction Youth Trust runs sessions in partner schools and colleges to increase awareness and understanding of roles in construction and the built environment. We aim to break down stereotypes and overcome barriers to enable young people to achieve their full career potential.
